To say that Roger Hedgecock is a force in radio and politics is an understatement. From his days as San Diego's mayor and a powerful elected political leader to his 20+ years as host of "The Roger Hedgecock Community Forum" on KOGO Radio in San Diego, Roger has reached out to influence millions nationwide with his message of citizen empowerment.
And now the power and popularity of his show is being shared with Americans everywhere with his nationally-syndicated show has now joined the KION line-up from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. weekday afternoons. Roger is heard now from coast to coast and border to border.
Roger is widely known as "The Radio Mayor" because of his term as Mayor of the City of San Diego, which he served after six years on the San Diego County Board of Supervisors and, before that, as City Attorney for Del Mar, Californnia.
Roger Hedgecock's popularity has long made him a media favorite well beyond his Southern California base. He has been invited to guest host many popular radio programs, and served as the #1 guest host for Rush Limbaugh for almost 10 years. Roger has been featured on Fox News and CNN as well as on C-Span's "Washington Journal".
Roger's wide appeal for media is well-deserved. While he enjoys high audience ratings as a talk-show host, he is clearly a man of action who frequently goes far beyond just talking about the issues. With a continuing campaign that he calls, "Hold Their Feet to the Fire," Roger has led hundreds of his listeners on a series of trips to Washington, D.C., encouraging them to take on the nation's political leaders as "citizen lobbyists." Many in the press have credited one such trip for influencing Congress to pass legislation reforming the IRS.
He was also the first talk-radio host to have broadcast a show live from the U.S. Capitol building, and leads his listeners on "Hold Their Feet to the Fire" trips to Washington, D. C.
Not content with speaking about issues and taking on local, national and international political leaders face to face, Hedgecock has also written a series of books on the major campaign issues of the day including Immigration and the Iraq War, called the "The Conservative Voter's 2008 Field Guide". Roger also has three other published books: "America's Finest City-If We Say It Enough, We'll Believe It;" "Fight City Hall and Win," and "The Airport Answer."
A native of the city he has served so well, Hedgecock attended San Diego State University and is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara. He received his law degree from Hastings College of Law. "The Radio Mayor" is married to Cindy Hedgecock, a business manager and financial consultant; they have two sons, James and Christopher.
